Date
10th December 2017 Many thanks to Linda for organising a great Turkey Trot. Despite the very cold weather a great time was had by all. Some of the childhood photos were totally unrecognisable, but it was great fun trying to work out who everyone was. Congratulations to Maggie who completed the raffle diary raising £82 for section funds/charity and I was lucky enough to have the winning date!
3rd December 2017 Please remember to bring a cheque for  £7.95 to cover the cost of the Turkey Trot meal. Ideally Liz would prefer payment before the day, but with the course being closed its likely that not everyone will see her. Therefore a cheque on the day will be OK. Don't forget also that Linda requires childhood photos of us all as part of the Christmas festivities!!

25th November 2017 Linda Knight collected the Anderson Division 5 Shield from Durham County Captain Christine Mair at the AGM today.

19th November 2017 Please ensure that you sign up for the Turkey Trot - details can be found here.
12th November 2017 Many thanks to Barbara and Linda who organised a great Presentation Evening on Friday night. Much fun was had by all and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Photographic evidence can be found here. As you can see the flowers provided by Roz and Kay were beautiful and there were many lucky people who won the raffle to take them home.
8th October 2017 The results of some of the summer competitions were announced today:-
  • The Summer Eclectic was won by Maggie Brown with a net 62.5 with a three way tie for second place between Liz Nelson, Chris Quinn and Pat Usher with a net 64.5
  • Silver Birdie Tree was won by Maggie brown with 10 birdies with Anita Maxwell second with 7 birdies.
  • Bronze Birdie Tree - no birdies scored.
1st October 2017 Please indicate your menu choices for the Anderson League celebratory meal either by emailing Linda Knight or by signing up on the sheet in the locker room.  The specials for the day are by the sign-up sheet, or you can choose from the main menu which Linda has emailed.

The game today was cancelled due to the rain and the condition of the course. As there is a trophy involved, the Leslie Wake and Medal 10 will be played on Sunday 15th October and the Yellow Peril has been cancelled. All the names that were down for the Yellow Peril have been transferred to the new sign-up sheet for the Leslie Wake. If you do not wish to play please let either Barbara, Anita or Maggie know so the sheet can be changed.

24th September 2017 Many congratulations to Steph and Margaret Russell who won the Silver and Bronze matchplay championships.

Please note that the list is on the notice board in the locker room for Presentation Evening, please sign up with your menu choices. The cost of the meal is £15.95 and it would be helpful if everyone could pay Liz Nelson for the meal prior to the event. Also, please return all trophies to Barbara so that she can get them engraved in good time for the event.

20th August 2017 Unfortunately neither of the Thomlinson teams managed to win their matches at Billingham this week. The Silver players (Anita and Maggie) managed to take Darlington to the 18th hole, whilst the bronze pairing of Barbara and Margaret Russell did not get quite that far in their match against Bishop Auckland.

Another game of Texas Scramble with the "Get into Golf" ladies is being arranged for Monday 4th September - Please let Barbara know if you are available to play.

13th August 2017 The 13 or so new golfers very much enjoyed their adventures on the golf course to play Texas Scramble on Monday. Another two sessions have been arranged for Saturday 9th and Monday 11th September. Please sign the list in the locker room if you are able to come out to play and try to encourage these ladies to get involved with the section.
6th August 2017 Many Thanks to everyone who helped at the Ladies Open. Despite the rain and a rather soggy course it was a successful day with approximately £550 raised for club funds.

The first Get Into Golf Texas Scramble was held yesterday which everyone seemed to enjoy. The next one is being played tomorrow when 13 new golfers have signed up to play. Here's hoping that we can generate some new members from these ladies

30th July 2017 It was a very busy week with Liz Nelson and Steph Storry representing Woodham in the Coronation Foursomes at Silloth (on the Solway Firth). They did very well coming 3rd (despite not scoring on 6 holes).

We then had the Woodham Waywards trip to Aldwark Manor organised by Linda Knight. A great time was had by all with everyone receiving prizes. The Woodham Waywards trophy was won by Margaret Nisbet with 34 points, Steph Storry was 2nd with 31 points and Anita Maxwell was 3rd also with 31 points.

On Friday, Pat Usher represented Woodham in the May Lowery final at South Moor finishing in the middle of the field. As if that wasn't enough golf the Club Championship was played this weekend with Anita Maxwell winning the gross prize and Margaret Russell the net.

Good luck to the Sivewright Team who play the final match of the season tomorrow against Ramside.

16th July 2017 Well done to the Sivewright Team who won their match against Blackwell Grange on Thursday. A special mention should go to Flo Robinson who won her first team game and in doing so secured the win for Woodham.
25th June 2017 Many thanks to Barbara and Linda for organising a great Captains Day (click here for the photos). There were lovely prizes for everyone from the golf in addition to traditional gift given out before play. There had obviously been a lot of thought and hard work put into the day and everyone enjoyed themselves judging by the noise level at the meal table. It was great to see so many "old" and "new" faces in the hut before play. Here's hoping that we can convert the "Get into Golf" ladies into full members. Well done to Norma on her win.

Another successful week for the Afternoon League team who won their match against Garesfield on Wednesday - only one more match away to Chester-le-Street this season. The Sivewright team have two matches this week (both at home), here's hoping for a couple of wins.

11th June 2017

Well done to the Afternoon League team who won their latest match against Chester-le-Street on Wednesday - the team are currently unbeaten (so now I've tempted fate by writing it down)!

Further information about the Woodham Waywards trip is on the Social Events page and there are also sheets in the locker room for everybody.

6th June 2017

The price of the carvery on Captain's Day has now been confirmed - £13.95 for 2 courses with tea/coffee.

21st May 2017 Don't forget - The balance of the Woodham Waywards trip is due by 1st June.

The team matches are well underway now with the afternoon team having won both their opening matches against South Shields, whilst the Sivewright team have yet to record a win.

The notices for Captain's Day are now on the notice board in the locker room. Please sign up as soon as possible to help with the arrangements for the day. We will be meeting at 11:00 for pre-golf drinks/snacks and the meal after the golf will probably be a carvery (dependant on numbers) which will be at approximately 18:00. All members and past members are welcome. Don't forget to bring a bottle (or a donation of £5) either on the day or before.

11th March 2017 Don't forget that the Wednesday tee time is now back to 10am.
19th February 2017 The Past Captains' Dinner has been booked for Saturday 8th April - there will be a 3 course meal (menu to follow) at a cost of £10.95. Please sign the list in the locker room if you wish to attend.
29th January 2017

Welcome to the new Woodham Golf Club Ladies Section website. I hope you all like the new format! If you have any suggestions for improvements or additions then please let me know. If you have any photographs which can be added to the galleries, then I'd be grateful if you can let me have them on a memory stick if possible (which I'll return as quickly as I can). If you want me to remove any photographs that you do not like then just let me know and I'll do it straight away.

Last Wednesday's golf was cancelled due to the "early morning" fog. It has therefore been suggested that we meet up a bit later in case of similar weather this week. Therefore we will meet for an 11am tee off each Wednesday until the end of February when the situation will be reviewed to see what people prefer.

1st January 2017 Happy New Year everyone. I hope that you enjoyed the festive season and are ready for some good golf in 2017.
