Team Captain Linda Knight attended the D.C.L.G.A. AGM today and collected the Anderson Division 3 winners shield. Photos can be found here (we think the shield may be too big to fit in the space in the cabinet!).

No golf tomorrow - here's hoping that the frost lasts until next Sunday so that the course may be open for the Turkey Trot.

The weather doesn't look like getting better any time soon, but hopefully we will get out on the golf course for the Turkey Trot on Sunday 8th December. If you have not signed your name for either the golf or the meal please do so by next Sunday as I have to get the numbers to Margaret.

The Castle Eden meeting was held yesterday where all the matches for 2020 were arranged. Once the clubs have confirmed these dates they will be posted in the locker room, when this has been done please sign up with your availability.

Pat also handed over a cheque for £512.81 for the County Captain's charity Daft as a Brush. Many thanks to everyone involved in buying and selling raffle tickets over the last year. The draw for the final raffle was also made today, many congratulations to all the winners. This raised £86 which will go to the charity nominated by next years Captain.

We managed to play the inaugural running of the Kay Mott Memorial trophy today exactly one year after she so sadly died. The weather wasn't great so the game was restricted to nine holes, but to be fair it was not quite as bad as forecast with the predicted downpour not arriving until later in the day. I think I got wetter taking all the golf gear out of the car than during the game.

No golf today as it was much too wet, but at least those who went up for coffee got cake as well to celebrate Pat's 60th birthday!!

Many congratulations to Linda Luke who won the Senior Club Championship to add to the Club Championship she won earlier in the year. Good luck to her as she plays in the Champion of Champions competition at Ramside on Saturday.

The first round of the Thomlinson Cups were played this week. The Silver team of Linda Luke and Anita Maxwell were beaten on the 16th hole by Heworth. It was the first time that the bronze team of Lucinda Hall and Lauren Robson had played in a County event so naturally they were very nervous. Despite this they too got as far as the 16th where they were beaten by the ladies from Beamish Park. Well done to both teams on representing the club so well.

The fine play from Woodham ladies continues this week with Liz Nelson getting a hole in one at the 127 yard 11th hole at Barnard Castle during the Teesside Alliance Greensome event held there today. Many congratulation Liz - sounds like that might have been quite expensive as I suspect the bar would have been full!

The Anderson League team celebrate their Division 3 win.

A busy week this week with a Teesside alliance Mixed Greensome event being held at Woodham on Monday the same day that the Coronation Foursomes regional final is being played at Durham City.

On Wednesday our ladies Open is being held and then on Friday Liz Nelson is representing the club in the May Lowery final at South Moor - good luck to everyone!

We played our final team match of 2019 against Barnard Castle on Thursday on what was the hottest day of the year. In really tough conditions the team managed a 4-3 win which means that Woodham cannot be beaten and we have won division 3 of the Anderson League gaining promotion for the third year running into division 2!

Looks like there's some celebrating to be done at the Woodham Waywards trip at Matfen Hall next week!

Many congratulations to Linda Luke who won the Club Championship with a magnificent gross 79 (of course she reduced her handicap too) - well done! Liz Nelson won the net prize with a net 73.

Don't forget that it is Captain's Day next week. We are meeting in the hut for eats and drinks before going out at 11am and your buffet contributions would be very welcome. The first tee time is 12:04 (don't forget your bottle of wine as your entry fee) with meal and prize-giving after the golf being held at 17:30.  The event is being sponsored by Miss Designer Golf (web based golf clothing company) who are putting up the first prize of a £100.00 voucher!; It will be lovely to see everyone and we look forward to you joining us.

Lots of birthdays this week (mine last Wednesday, Margaret Russell on Thursday, Janice on Friday and Lucinda yesterday) - who would have thought that in a group of 16 players taking part today that 4 of them would have their birthday's in the same week. So plenty of cake for everyone!!

Don't forget that the balance  for the Woodham Waywards trip is due to be paid by the 31st May. There is a notice detailing the amounts owed and also menu selections to complete. Please help Liz and Steph by making your payment and selecting your menu choice by the end of the month.

The season really gets going now with our first team game against Hartlepool (away) on Thursday - we're hoping for some good weather as the course is tricky enough without having to contend with the "elements" as well!

Liz Nelson and Steph Storry represented Woodham in the Daily Mail Foursomes, they were drawn away at Bishop Auckland where they unfortunately lost having to give lots of shots to some tough opponents.

The draw for the Easter raffle was done today. Margaret Nisbet won the first prize which was a fourball at Dinsdale, Matthew Cowey won the second prize with Margaret Russell winning the final Easter Egg prize. £86 was raised for the County Captain's Charity Daft as A Brush.

The course was open to its full length today and playing at our new tee time we were able to go at a good pace as there was no-one in front - I don't know about anyone else, but I'm now exhausted!

Please sign up for the team matches and the matchplay championship. Depending upon numbers the matchplay championship may be played as a round robin rather than a knockout - so please sign up early to help with the arrangements.

No golf again today, but the results of the winter competitions have now been announced - congratulation to Liz Nelson and Flo Robinson who won the 18 and 9 hole leagues and Liz again for winning the winter eclectic.

Cake today! We celebrated a belated special birthday as Margaret Nisbet turned 60 last Sunday. Many congratulations to her.

Don't forget to sign the list in the locker room for the rules session being held on Thursday 28th February to cover the 2019 changes - If you wish to eat beforehand you can pick from either the main or the lite bite menu. Arrive at 17:30 to eat at 18:00, the rules session will be held after we have finished our meal and will last no longer than an hour.
