12th December 2021 | Many thanks to Sue Lowe for organising a great Turkey Trot. Despite the fact that there was no golf it did not stop
the enjoyment of the day with plenty of festive fun and laughter. |
1st October 2021 | The AGM and Prizegiving is taking place at Harwick Hall Sedgefield on Friday 13th November.
When arriving at the venue, please take the right hand fork as you turn into the hotel which takes you to the large car park.
The event is being held in the Floral Chapel. |
15th September 2021 | Congratulations to Tracey Hahn on winning the Senior Club Championship and to Maggie for winniong the net prize. |
31st August 2021 | Many thanks to Pat for organising a great trip to Headlam Hall at (I believe) the third time of asking due to COVID cancellations.
The weather was really great (better than my golf!). It was such a surprise that so many golf balls were lost by us all - One day I will get
a point on the 4th (rather than losing a ball in the water on the right)!. |
27th August 2021 |
Information Re Men's Captain's Day on Sunday 29th August The competition is a 4BBB and we will be linking this with the playing of the Millennium Fourball. Please write two cards (one with Men's Captain's Day as the competition name and one with Millennium Fourball as the competition name). There will be no entry fee for the ladies competition but there is a £10 entry fee for Men's Captain's Day. Signing-in and paying for Men's Captain's Day will either be via Ernie or in the Committee room (to be confirmed on Sunday). Please ensure that the Millennium Fourball card is left in the ladies locker room for us to pick up. I suspect that the Captain's Day cards will need to be posted through the letterbox in the committee room but again this will be confirmed on Sunday.
All proceeds to the Captain's Charity -

25th August 2021 | Tracey and I played in the second round of the Thomlinson's today at Blackwell Grange golf club against Durham City. We managed to win this match 5&3 and so had to go out again in the afternoon against South Moor. Their pair included Pauline Dobson who Liz and Steph were up against in the Daily Mail foursomes. We peaked too soon winning the first hole, and despite some good golf (as well as the "not so good golf") we were beaten 4&3. Many thanks to Tracey for putting up with playing with me, our
caddies Janice and Pat and Margaret Russell who kept us going
throughout the day. |
11th August 2021 | Many thanks to Vikki and Janice who represented the club in the Thomlinson's Division 2 (Bronze) at Dinsdale. Unfortunately they didn't win, but they were up against some tough opponents. I hope they enjoyed their day at a different course. The
Division 1 (Silver) team ended up with a bye into the second
round as their opponents (Hartlepool) withdrew from the
competition. |
9th August 2021 | Despite losing our last team match it looks like Woodham will
be promoted to division 1 of the Anderson League as no-one can
catch us to take second place in the league. To think that we thought it would
be an achievement to even stay up in division 2. Well done to all
the players who have taken part this season - what a great
(although scary) result! |
5th August 2021 | A very busy week with both the Mixed and Ladies Opens being
played. Many thanks to Sue Lowe and Margaret Russell for
organising the events and all the helpers who ensure that the
days were a success. |
23rd July 2021 | What a great time we had at George Washington for the Woodham
Waywards trip. It was a long time coming but well worth the
wait. Many thanks to the two Linda's for all their hard work in
organising the event and many congratulations to all the
winners. |
19th July 2021 | Many congratulations to Margaret Russell and Maggie Brown who
came 3rd in the regional final of the Coronation Foursomes at Arcot Hall today - a really great result.
|
2nd July 2021 | Unfortunately Liz Na Steph lost in round 5 of the Daily Mail
foursomes at South Moor today. They were up against some very strong
opposition playing against Pauline Dobson who has been County
Champion on at least 7 occasions and Lesley Jennings who is also
a very good player and has been on the County team. It was
always going to be tough away from home - but many
congratulations on getting all the way to the 5th round. |
27th June 2021 | Many congratulations to Pat Usher who is our Club Champion for 2021. She had a magnificent gross score of 82 which no doubt will reduce her handicap. She also had the best net score of the day, but as the Club Champion is not allowed to win both prizes, the Trophy goes to the second placed player Janet McRae, which was quite fitting as it was her birthday. To top it off she brought cakes for everyone which were delicious (despite her telling us she couldn't bake!). Pat is thrilled with her win as at one point during lockdown she thought she would never get
back on the golf course because of her foot - you know what they
say - "beware the injured golfer"! |
13th June 2021 | What a glorious day on the golf course. The weather was really kind and the company was great. Of course I am biased about the format of the today's scramble competition and I hope everyone else enjoyed their game as much as I did. To top it off we were
able to celebrate Linda Knight's birthday with cake - what more
could we ask for! |
4th May 2021 | At the committee meeting today it was agreed that the cost of club polo shirts for members would be £7.50. Please make your cheques payable to Woodham Golf Club (Ladies Section) and give them to LIz (or post them in the box in the locker room). The balance for the Woodham Waywards trip must be paid by Sunday 23rd May. If you are not sure what you owe then please speak to Liz Nelson who will be able to help you. |
2nd May 2021 | The season has really started now with our first qualifying competition
being held today. Please make sure that you keep an eye on your
handicap index as this may change overnight. I would suggest
that the easiest way of keeping up to date is to download and
install the MyEG app. |
30th April 2021 |
For those of you who have been members prior to February 2020, you will be aware that we had a day out booked at Headlam Hall for golf and lunch which due to the national lockdown, we have moved twice. For those of you who have joined the Section since, or perhaps could not go previously, this is your opportunity now to join in as it has been rearranged again. Owing to our golf commitments and trying to accommodate all those who have already paid for the trip, the new date is now booked for WEDNESDAY 18TH AUGUST 2021. The cost per person inclusive will be £30.00 if you would like to play 18 holes, or £25.00 if you would like to play 9 holes. A £10.00 deposit per person will be required please payable as soon as possible and the full balance due no later than Sunday 4th July. Please make any cheques payable to Woodham Golf Club Ladies Section and these can be posted in the post-box in the locker-room marked for Liz Nelson's attention writing clearly on the envelope what the money is for. The day consists of a round of golf either over 18 holes or 9 holes and will include coffee and bacon sandwiches before play as well as a two course lunch in the hotel. The menu (with choices) will be made available in advance. Obviously all dietary requirements can be catered for and the food is all hotel standard. The course is a shortish 9 hole course and is suitable for all playing abilities and there are some tricky Par 3's, so it will keep everyone entertained. |
5th March 2021 |
Now that Boris has published his roadmap out of lockdown and England Golf have confirmed that competitions are allowed from 29th March, the ladies committee met virtually to discuss our fixture list for 2021. We agreed that nobody would want to jump straight in and play qualifying competitions and that we should hold a few pairs/team events first. We also agreed that we would allow the option of playing just 9 holes on Sunday during the month of April so that people have the opportunity to build up their stamina after being in lockdown for so long. My thanks to Linda Luke who has re-gigged the fixture list which has been updated on the website. You will see that the season will start with a Greensome Stableford and then there are 3 team event (all in teams of 3). We will keep the method of signing up and payment as we adopted last year. So if you wish to play on a Sunday please let Linda Luke know (indicating for April whether you want to play 9 or 18 holes). If you wish to play on a Wednesday please let Pat know. The draw will be done a week in advance as normal. At the meeting, committee also agreed that as it would not be possible to hold a presentation evening for 2019/2020 until 21st June at the earliest that we will combine the two events and hold a joint Presentation Evening for the two years in November (COVID rules permitting!). Pat is still trying to re-organise the date for the Headlam Hall trip so that it suits everyone who has paid their deposit. The current date she is looking at is Wednesday 18th August so please keep that date free and she will email to confirm once Headlam Hall have got back to her. DCLGA agreed that all the league matches for March and April should be rescheduled from May onwards and extended the date by which all games have to be played until the middle of September. We had an away match with Eaglescliffe due to be played on the 21st April and this has now been moved to 21st June. The full list of team games can be found here. Without the use of the locker room it's not possible for Linda to put up a list for everyone to sign their availability, therefore I'd be very grateful if everyone with a handicap index of less than 30 can let Linda Knight know whether they can play in each of the matches. Our first game is on 6th May and it will be here before we know it! |
