11th November

Many thanks to Sue Lowe and Sue Benn who put in a lot of work to organise a lovely presentation evening. I'm sure that everyone enjoyed a great evening together to celebrate all the successes of 2022. Photographs of the event can be found here.

It was also announced at the AGM that not only had Pat won the D.C.L.G.A .Unsung County Hero award but Woodham had won the D.C.L.G.A. Club of the Year Award. Unfortunately, the award was presented to the wrong club at last week's D.C.L.G.A. AGM but Woodham have now been confirmed as winners. Many congratulations to everyone involved within the section who have put in so much hard work this year to increase our membership by 19 Academy members - here's hoping we can convert these ladies to full membership in April.

5th November At the D.C.L.G.A. AGM today Pat Usher was awarded the D.C.L.G.A. Unsung County Hero award for all the work she does on course rating - many congratulations to her and the rest of the rating team on a magnificent achievement.
3rd August Many thanks to everyone who helped out the ladies open today. Thankfully the weather was nice (although a bit blustery) and the 19 teams that took part really seemed to enjoy the course and the food. Well done to Barbara and Flo's team who won the home prize in their birthday week (helped of course by Vikki and Maggie). The winning away team was captained by Janet with friends from Bishop Auckland and got a magnificent 91 points, the full results can be found here.
2nd August 2022 Well, we did it! The team beat Seaton Carew 4-3 to ensure that they stay up in division one next season. What a magnificent performance from such a small section. Many congratulations to the team and thanks to everyone for your support.
24th July 2022

Many thanks to Sue Lowe for organising a great Captain's Day. There were some great scores today with Linda Luke getting a massive 45 points and Barbara Robinson 43. Many congratulations to all the winners. Some pictures can be found here.

10th July 2022

Many congratulation to our new Club Champion Steph Storry who went round in a gross 79 today.

14th July 2022 At least we got our revenge for last week's defeat at Castle Eden by beating them 5-2 at home. Whether we stay up in division 1 will all be on the last home game against Seaton Carew.
7th July 2022 A disappointing match against Castle Eden, we so nearly won it but ended up losing by the odd game 4-3. We shan't mention the 18th hole there again any more - I'm sure I'll have nightmares about it for a while.
30th June 2022 Well at least it wasn't a whitewash, we were beaten 6-1 by Brancepeth Castle at their course. Well done to Liz who won her game and to everyone who played - most of the matches were really quite close.
19th June 2022 Many congratulation to Liz who got a hole-in-one on her birthday - you don't get many of them I'm sure!
17th June 2022 I'm sorry that I couldn't play in the away match against Seaton Carew today - but COVID intervened. It was very windy there so it came as no surprise that we were beaten 5.5 - 1.5. One of the Seaton players apparently said that if it had been one of their normal golf days they wouldn't have gone out to play as the wind was too strong. Here's hoping that we manage to get our revenge at Woodham
11th June 2022 Liz and Steph played in the 4th round of the Daily Mail Foresomes today. Unfortunately they lost a very close game at Seaton Carew.
7th June 2022

Well done to everybody who took part in the events held for World Ladies Golf Day. The 9 hole Texas Scramble proved to be very popular with 13 teams playing from a number of different golf clubs. It was lovely to see so many ladies on the course (and in the bar afterwards!). Thanks to Maggie for being chief photographer, the pictures can be found here. The results were as follows:-

1st Tracey, Christine and Barbara 26 points

2nd Sue Lowe, Elaine and Liz 25 points

3rd Pat, Aimee and Michelle 25 points.

24th May 2022 The first "Get Into Golf" sessions have now been completed with all 6 taking out the new academy membership. Many thanks to everyone who took part in the Texas Scramble and encouraged them to play. I think everyone enjoyed themselves and it was nice to see a lot of ladies on the course.
20th May 2022

I don't think we can quite believe it, but we managed to beat Brancepeth Castle 4.5 - 2.5! Perhaps we can manage to stay up in division 1 after all?. Needless to say the team are quite please with themselves - a really great result.

12th May 2022 A busy couple of days for Liz who was playing in the Daily Mail Foursomes with Steph today. They beat a team from Ramside 3&1 to get into the next round.
11th May 2022 Well done to Liz Nelson and Linda Luke who won the Foggatt Spoons for the best gross score in the 4BBB held at  Boldon today. This is the second time that they have won this trophy.
29th April 2022

Our first home match in division 1 was the return match against Tyneside which much to our surprise we won - bring on Brancepeth Castle next week!

22nd April 2022

Our second trip to Headlam proved to be as good as the first, great weather lovely food and I actually managed to get a point on the 4th Hole! Many congratulations to all the winners.

20th April 2022

Our first division one match today was away at Tyneside - we ended up losing 5-2 which was a much better result than we expected.

16th April 2022 Well done to Liz and Steph who had a very convincing win in their Daily Mail Foursomes match today 7&6.
24th March 2022

Many congratulations to Pat who got her second hole-in-one on the shortened 6th hole. It was a lovely shot, all over the flag and was much better than the first at this hole which never got above knee height. That's seven hole-in one's for Pat in total!
